Default MAX resolution 1440x900, it should be 1920x1080 using SIIG USB 2.0 TO DVI

I'm using a SIIG USB 2.0 TO DVI with a VGA converter on it to enable me to use a second screen on my Lenovo 10131 Desktop, the adapter should be capable of producing 1920x1080 however the max resolution i can get is 1440x900? There is no option listed for 1920x1080 in the (second) screen settings. I'm using two identical acer S220HQL screens and installed the latest DisplayLink software.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Hello,
Can you please provide the logs as described in the signature so I can identify what chip is in this adapter?
DisplayLink does not design or manufacture end products so I don't know what they put inside.
It sounds like this is an older generation which cannot achieve the resolution, but the logs will tell me what's going on.
Kind regards,
Alban

Thank you Jamie. This adapter is based on the DisplayLink DL-160, an old product which is unable to do full HD.
The resolution offered is the highest resolution advertised as supported by your monitor and in the range possible for the device. That resolution is 1440x900.
The DisplayLink DL-160 is unable to handle the throughput necessary to send all the pixels at full HD resolution. This is a hardware limitation.

Thanks for the information. I found this document online which says the DL-160 is capable of producing 1080? http://www.display-solution.com/pdf/...chure_2007.pdf

I'm really confused, please could you advise me which adapter I should purchase to give me full HD (1080)? Thanks for your help, Jamie

Hello Jamie,
I could not find where it was saying it would support 1920x1080. (column * rows)
Resolution works like you calculate a surface area almost.
The document you linked indicates 1600x1200. So it can manage 1080 rows, but not 1920 wide.
Here is a list of graphics adapters using our technology we have tested which can achieve FullHD at least: http://www.displaylink.com/products/...&res=1920x1080
