Default Cannot install displaylink software.

I have a computer running windows 8.1. I tried installing the dock with the software that came bundled, but it did not work. After uninstalling and trying with the latest version 7.6 from your site it gives me the following message: "DisplayLink has detected USB graphics software installed from a different vendor. This software is not compatible with DisplayLink graphics software and must be uninstalled before DisplayLink sfotware can be installed."

I have tried following your troubleshooting guide to no avail. The support tool reports no issues either.

I am attaching the support files zip from the support tool. Hopefully you can help me figure out what's causing this.

Thanks!

Hi

The log files don't include the installer logs. Could you check you have followed the guide on this page to make sure installer logging is turned on:

I had a similar issue (Windows 7) and resolved it by downloading the correct Intel graphics driver from the Dell ftp site. ftp://ftp.dell.com

Still no luck unfortunately, even after downloading a new graphics driver it still gives the same error message.

Does the support file give any indication as to what it might be?

Hi,

Regarding the "DisplayLink has detected USB Graphics software installed from a different vendor...." message can you download and run the DisplayLink Compatibility Check Tool from this URL? http://displaylink.com/support/sla.php?fileid=111

When you run the tool it will generate a file called DlCompatCheck.log in the C:\Program Files\DisplayLink Core Software\Debug\ directory. Please attach this file to this post.

Once I see this file I will be able to advise you how to remove the USB graphics software.

Thanks,
James

Red face Me too! "detected USB graphics installed from a different vendor"

I have the same problem as many others, "DisplayLink has detected USB graphics installed from a different vendor". I have looked for any j5 or other graphics software as suggested in the various knowledgebase FAQs.

I have updated everything on the computer and tried the driver download from Startech.com.

I have tried a variety of "sc delete" commands, though I don't know exactly what the conflict is.

No matter what, same problem... my user is getting pretty mad about this.

I have downloaded the DICompatCheck and I am attaching the log file... I hope someone can help!

Hi,

"GManager" is the entry to delete here.

1. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
2. Right-click Command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
3. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
4. Type "sc delete GManager" (without the quotes) and press Return

Reboot and you should be good to go.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks,
James

Thank you James,

Unfortunately 'sc delete GManager' with reboot didn't clear the error.

Could there be an additional service key that I also have to delete?

Thanks for your help,
David
