Problem playing video through K33951 docking station
Hi all
I have a brand new Kensington laptop docking station (K33591) attached to an equally new Dell XPS15 running Win 7 All is really good APART from the fact that when I play movie clips on the laptop, Windows Media Player shows the video on the laptop screen, but NOT on the external VGA monitor I have hooked up to the K33591 The Media Player window is there -but it just shows blank! I have updated to the latest Win 7 drivers and now Kengsington seem to be heading towards replacing the unit - but I'd be surprised if it's a fault rather than some sort of weird software/driver error Having said that, it's strange that this seems to be an unknown problem, so perhaps it IS hardware related Does anyone out there have any experience of anything similar and can suggest any troubleshooting steps? I've verified that my XPS15 can drive the VGA screen directly with no problems - it just goes pear shaped when routed through the dock! Thanks Phil G PS I just noticed it doesn't seem to know how to render Windows Messenger windows either! Last edited by philg; 02-22-2012 at 04:02 PM. |

This does indeed agree with my symptoms - I changed from a Basic to an Aero theme and the graphics now work on my external monitor as expected Snag is, when I upgrade to the Alpha driver release, I get other symptoms when I switch back to a Basic theme - the screen only seems to get refreshed when I move the cursor across it - almost like a Rolf Harris painting! |

Can you post your debug logs for the issue with the Alpha release in the forum. The developers will then see this and see if we can reproduce the issue you are seeing. It's important to know your exact machine spec to debug this.
Thanks Wim |
