Version 1.2.65 of DisplayLink USB sw DOES NOT work on Linux Mint 17.3 (ubuntu 14.04)

Hardware: Dell xps 13 (2015 edition) + Dell D1000 docking station + Linux Mint 17.3
Problem: Nothing - no external monitor detected, no display on even a single external monitor.

yes, I even manually started the DLM process (which was not started automatically) -- still external monitor is not even detected

For the record, v1.2.58 works fine, but crashes X when attempting to login to graphical env when 2 monitors are connected. Display on 2 monitors is only possible after logging into X with 1 external monitor connected and then connecting 2nd monitor.

v.1.2.65 as stated above, DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.

Please advise. Thank you.
