Default Max number of connected devices through USB on Windows 8?

Hello,

I'm trying to spec a custom Windows 8.1-based computer that will run up to 12 DisplayLink peripherals over USB or HDMI. The hardware I'm using is driven by the DisplayLink DL-165 chipset. Is there a limit to the number of DisplayLink devices I can run on a given computer? Or is my only limitation the graphics card and number of PCI slots connected to the motherboard? Thanks for the help in advance!
