Default Driver installs fine, but no monitor detected ubuntu 14.04 [redux]

Because the original thread of a similar name seems to have been programatically broken by the forum software, I am posting a very similar thread again. I do not intend to spam, but I have tried to get an administrator to fix the issue and it has not been resolved in a fair amount of time. If anyone with the power sees this post, feel free to delete the other thread.

Original question:

Quote:
Hello All,

Coming to ask after some basic research, about the correct was to set up and use the adapter. System information:

-pluggable UGA-4KDP (with DisplayLink DL-5500)
-ubuntu 14.04 LTS
-thinkpad x220 Tablet
-dell 1280x1024 19" monitor with displayport

I followed instructions here:
http://support.displaylink.com/knowl...ware-on-ubuntu

The goal is to use three monitors ; two of the small dell ones and one larger one. Two are connected to the thinkpad's built in DP and VGA connections, and the second small one should be driven by the displaylink device. USB3.0 is supplied by a expresscard adapter which I have already verified to work at 3.0 speeds with other storage devices.

The driver installs without errors, and after rebooting in $ sudo lsusb I can see one line says:

Bus 004 Device 003: ID 17e9:4324 DisplayLink

And the kernel message buffer shows:

(the final message repeats again occasionally)

Not sure from these messages if there are any critical errors or not.

In any case, I can not see any new displays appear in the gui interface, and nothing new emerges in

$ sudo lshw -C display
or
$ xranrd --query

Can anyone give a hint what I am doing incorrectly?

Thanks for reading.
Then a reply from mlukaszek:

Do you see signs of evdi module being in use in your dmesg?
There's a support tool in the sticky post on this forum - you can use it to capture logs.
Are you running with secure boot enabled?

Cheers,
Michal
Then my next response:

Quote:
Hi mlukaszek ; thanks for the reply.

-evdi module is seen but with warning / error:

$ cat /var/log/syslog | grep evdi
Jul 1 23:25:30 Octavia-X220 kernel: [ 12.692057] evdi: [I] Initialising logging on level 5
Jul 2 00:26:26 Octavia-X220 kernel: [ 3.650120] evdi: module verification failed: signature and/or required key missing - tainting kernel
Jul 2 00:26:26 Octavia-X220 kernel: [ 3.650646] evdi: [I] Initialising logging on level 5

And incase this is helpful:

$ uname -a
Linux Octavia-X220 3.19.0-80-generic #88~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 13 14:54:07 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

-support tool does not seem to be available now. On ths sticks I am pointed to this page:
http://support.displaylink.com/knowl...to-displaylink but the link on that page goes here: http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?d=68 which redirects to nothing - perhaps a broken link?

-secure boot is not supported on x220 and is not present in the bois. Boot is configured to legacy mode at the moment.

Thank you!

I have still not been able to progress from this point and I would appreciate any help!

Thank you and have an awesome day.
