Default Mouse flickers

First of all, thanks for the new driver. Works for me really good.

The only disadvantage I noticed until now: My mouse pointer flickers sometimes. Sometimes the mouse becomes invisible. This happens on all screens.

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04.2 with Unity and the new driver 1.0.68 for Ubuntu.

Just as information: I found the following bug report at Launchpad for Ubuntu

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...g/+bug/1278223

Maybe, it's possible for DisplayLink to provide some information there or to get some information. It seems to be a problem with older DisplayLink Adapters as well.

I've noticed it flickers on my laptop display and my mini-display port to VGA connected monitor. It doesn't actually flicker on my 2 USB monitors. The other oddity I found was that when my laptop monitor is disabled, there is noticeable lag for the mouse on my USB monitors, but when the laptop monitor is on, the display link monitors work perfectly.

Confirming that my mouse cursor is also flickering / becoming invisible under Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS.

I have a two monitor setup, with a BenQ GW2760S as the main monitor, and a Orico DU3H-BK running the secondary monitor. Both monitors using HDMI. These are connected to a Dell Inspiron 5749 laptop. Display setup is configured to disable the inbuilt laptop monitor. I am using the default X.Org X server "Nouveau" display driver.

The cursor flickers most of the time, when it is moved. It also flickers when stationary, but only when typing with the keyboard. However, I notice that the mouse cursor tends to become completely invisible when I open, close or switch between windows. Perhaps invisibility occurs on increased CPU and/or GPU load? I think.
The mouse cursor only becomes invisible / flickers on the main monitor, not on the Displaylink monitor. The mouse cursor seems to behave whilst on the Displaylink monitor. Is it becoming jealous and/or anxiously nervous when it is away from its favourable Displaylink monitor? Possibly dealing with a driver-enabled emotional problem here.

I have tried connecting to various USB ports, both on-board, and via a USB hub, the problem still persists.

uname -a:
3.19.0-28-generic #30~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep 1 09:32:55 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Thanks for supporting Linux and Open Source software! You are loved.

Default No flickering with Gnome

Hey,

hope i can help you guys: I recently switched from the standard Unity Desktop in Ubuntu 14.04 to Gnome 3 and the mouse flickering vanished. Works like charm now.

Thanks T-Wing,

Confirming that switching from Unity to Metacity has resolved the flicker issue for myself, as well.

Default Changing the desktop environment is no option

I think changing the desktop environment is not a real solution to the problem.
I attached the report from the DisplayLink Linux support tool. I hope somebody can look into this.
