Black Screen - Dell Vostro 3550 w/ Intel 3000 & AMD Radeonn 6600M/6700M
Hi,
I've got a Dell Vostro 3550 that has both an integrated video card (Intel HD Graphics 3000), along with an AMD video card - according to the device manager, it is an AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M series. The laptop runs Windows 10 Home edition. According to the device manager, the AMD video card is running driver version 15.201.1151.1008. The Intel video card is running driver version 9.17.10.4459. I note that AMD Catalyst Center is installed. I connect the laptop to a Sabrent Universal Docking Station, and I downloaded the latest drivers from Displaylink's website. Whenever I connect the laptop to the docking station, and I turn on the second monitor, the second monitor shows a black screen, although I can see the mouse cursor on that screen. The only way I can get that second screen to show the extended display is if I go into device manager and disable the AMD video card. However, when I do so, whenever I restart the laptop, the laptop's resolution will revert from 1366 x 768 to 1024 x 768 (unless I re-enable the AMD video card before restart). I realize the Vostro 3550 is a 5-year old laptop, and that both the AMD and Intel video cards are no longer supported. However, I wanted to know if there was any way to correct this "black screen" issue without me having to disable and enable the AMD video card each time. |
