Angry Screen flicker

I am running a mid-2012 Macbook Pro with Catalina 10.15.7, to which I have 2 monitors hooked up. One monitor is plugged into the Mini displayport, and the other monitor is plugged into the Display Link. The monitor in the mini dp works fine, however the diplaylink monitor just flickers for hours on end before it finally gets a strong enough signal to work.

Any ideas?

Hello,
Would you have details of the adapter you are using and how the display is connected (type of cable)?
Also, can you tell me the resolution of the monitor flickering?
Kind regards, Alban

I'm running a Diamond USB 2.0 Display Adapter connected to a VGA cable with the suppplied adapter. It is connected to the computer through a standard USB cable. The resolution on the monitor is 1280x1024

Thank you for the details.
Could you describe the flicker or blink? Is it a very fast (like milliseconds) or does it blink at a second or more interval?
If you could share a phone recording of the behaviour, that would also work/help.
Kind regards,
Alban
