Default Display stopped working after VirtualBox upgrade

My displays have been setup and working for months on my MacBook but today I installed an upgrade to VirtualBox which I installed and after installing the displays no longer work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. I was sure to allow the driver in the macOS security but the displays still do not work.

When I find the kernel extension in the system report area it says that it is installed but it is not loaded. I have manually loaded the extension from the command line without any errors but the displays do not come on and after a reboot the extension is once again unloaded.

One other relevant detail is I am using the classic driver because I need to be able to use the displays with the laptop closed. Other system details are below. Are there any known work arounds or things to check to restore the displays?
