Default Leftover remnants appear after wake from suspend

I'm using v4.2 on Ubuntu MATE 18.04. I got DisplayLink working after applying these two workarounds. Disabling "pageflip" caused issue so I removed the line.

I have two monitors connected to my laptop. One connected via HDMI port and the other one via DisplayLink.

Whenever the laptop wake from suspend, the DisplayLink monitor would exhibit:
1. Leftover remnants when I move a window around or switch workspace.
2. Blank wallpaper.

3. No issue on mouse cursor (no trail).
4. MATE panels work fine.
5. No issue on laptop screen and HDMI monitor.

I tried re-plug, but it's still the same.

Above issues can be resolved by logout-login, but it defeats the purpose of suspend though (i.e. resume opened programs).

Edit: seems like incompatibility issue with Compiz (as other also experience). The screen returns normal once I terminate compiz. Issue comes back when compiz is relaunched. To use compiz, I need to logout-login.

Edit: Found this comment,
Quote:
Note that Ubuntu driver ships a set of quite complex set of scripts that use udev to control the lifetime of DLM (that it only runs when a compatible device is connected), it also makes sure that DLM is aware of sleep/resume.
Could be related?

Edit: Instead of logout-login, I resolve it by disable and re-enable the monitor through Displays settings (mate-display-properties).

Edit: Same issue on v4.4 in Ubuntu 18.10.
