Default Running hot

Am I the only one whose CPU temperature hovers around 85C(!) when running the current 5.6.1 DisplayLink drivers? As soon as I disconnect my DisplayLink dock, the temperature drops significantly to a more reasonable 45C (or thereabouts).

Is this the price we pay for DisplayLink docks?

Any plans to make the next driver iteration less stressful in terms of temperature?

(Note that CPU usage is rarely goes over 30% in either scenario in idling mode.)

Otherwise, and for the record, I am pretty happy with my DisplayLink-based dock.

I was also getting some i915 hangs (rarely, but they did happen), so I did the i915 trick, and now the temperatures hover around 60C!

With kernel 6.1.9 the CPU temperature is finally within reasonable values, i.e. around 55C. Video performance, otoh, is abysmal.
