Default Is displaylink over usb 3.0 good enough for kodi?

I currently have Kodi running under linux but I'd like to power another display with it and really need a multi-seat setup. I have no internal slots for a card so I need to do it via USB. I'm wondering if the newest displaylink devices and linux drivers are going to be able to handle 1080i or 720p uncompressed videos without problems, or if that's hopeless? I've heard people have success setting up displaylink for a second terminal but I haven't seen people running kodi or other dedicated video systems on it under linux.
If it does work, is it gonna kill my CPU (skylake i7)?
thanks
