Which Dock to connects M1 MBP to 2 Dell U2721DE monitors?
Hi everyone
I would like to know which dock I need to connect my. M1 MacBook Pro to two Dell U2721DE monitors. I did read, that both the Dell 6000 and Dell 3100 should work. But I also read, that some have issues with them. As I understand, does the Dell D3100 in contrary to the Dell D6000 not charge the MBP. Sorry, if I missed some information what a best possible set up could look like. Thank you for helping me out. |

I have and really like Targus 180. Its actually available for a great price from Amazon $157 versus normal price most other place for $249. It drives two monitors at up to 4K (has native Dual HDMI and Dual Display port connections). Power Delivery for computer up to 60 watts using its own power supply, Ethernet, 4 USB 3.2 Gen1 USBA, and USC-C 3.2 Gen1, naturally one USB-C uplink port, audio in/out. Even comes with an adapter for non USB-C machines.

Thank you! Since I've heard that many people seem to have issues with the Dell D6000 (can't charge their MacBook), I am going to try this one out.
Did you notice any restrictions? |

Hi Stefan, I just received my Dell D6000 yesterday and it works perfectly well with my MacBook Pro 13" M1 (2020).
I use an ultra-wide Dell display (soon, I will connect a second one). My MacBook Pro charges perfectly well with this dock. Here's why: - Dell D6000 charges up to 65W laptop via USB-C (see https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/dell...pc-accessories) - On the other hand, MacBook Pro 13" M1 comes with a 61W USB-C Power Adapter (see https://support.apple.com/kb/SP824). - In other words, the D6000 actually provides more power than the Power Adapter that comes with the MacBook (65W instead of 61W). Best of luck making your purchase! |

Hi olord, thanks for your time and the useful information.
Good to know, that you are having no issues so far. Do you already know, which screen will be the second one? And for me to clarify, you are only using the D6000 and the DisplayLink Software? Thank you and have a great weekend! |

Dell issued new firmware a long while ago to address the changes in USB Power Delivery (charging) in more recent macbook. There is no active issue I know of. Regards, Alban

Thank you!
Thanks everybody for the help, I appreciate it. I am going to get the Dell D6000 and will give the update after the set up.
@olord, feel free to share your experience as well. I can imagine 2 curved monitors are great to work with as well. @jmc, amazing to hear that the limit Apple has given its users can be circumvented that easily. @AlbanRampon, thank you for confirming and clarifying the situation. Have a great week everyone! |

If you're still looking for a dock, I manage over 1,500 MacBook installs, all with the Dell D6000 dock, all are working as intended (otherwise I'd be involved with a lot of service calls). They connect to anywhere from 1 to 3 4K monitors.
The only thing I don't like is the firmware update that was previously mentioned has to be run from a Windows PC. We never tried it through a VM or other methods of running Windows on the MacBooks as it's against corporate policy |

I have the Plugable UD-ULTC4K with (3) Dell U2719D monitors. It has been flawless for me.
