DisplayLink Crashes Home wifi network

Dear Forum Members

I have installed the displaylink app onto my iPad and also put the iPad software onto my windows 7 64 bit Laptop...so far so good. I can ping the iPad from the laptop without a problem. However, when I launch the software on the laptop, and I am asked for my iPad password and the home wifi network crashes. I have to reset the router to get back onto the internet from any device, even those which do not have the displaylink app or software on them. I have a BT Homehub router (early version). I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling both app and software and have given up...you are my last hope.
