Default Nvidia app does not show indirectly connected displays

I have latest and greatest Windows 10, and latest DL drivers, but my nVidia gives me an error when I try to open nVidia control panel:

NVIDIA Display Settings are not available.
You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU.

What could be an error here?

The problem is the nvidia app.
You can use native Windows 10 feature or in the target application itself, if offered.
