Exclamation Trouble with Dell U22 Dock, M1 Air, OS 15.1.1

Hey friends,

I recently acquired the Dell U22 Dock and an Acer SH322QK monitor, and waiting for a Dell S2722QC monitor which is being shipped. I am trying to do a dual monitor setup.

I am using an Macbook Air M1 on Sequoia 15.1.1.

Problem:
I have downloaded DisplayLink app (1.11.0) and the Dell Display Manager (1.3.2.0015) on their most recent versions. However my Dell Dock and DisplayLink app are not recognizing my monitor, even though it is passing through the image as an extended display. All I see is an exclamation mark on the Dell Display Manager menu bar icon and the display link manager app tells me to "allow DisplayLink device to connect to this Mac".

My Acer monitor works with USB-C plugged in directly to the macbook as well, but it is still not detected by the apps. I've tried the Acer monitor with a HDMI 2.1 cable connected to the Dell dock but that doesn't work in detecting it either.

I tried plugging in my old Samsung B2430 monitor (with HDMI) and the Acer monitor with USB-C and it would just mirror the image of the Acer monitor onto the Samsung one.

Caveats:
I don't have a windows laptop at the moment to update the Dell dock firmware. I have only tried using the USB-C cable that comes with the Acer monitor. I really don't want to have to purchase more cables.

I assume I should update firmware next? What should I do after if that doesn't work. Any tips or tricks, or what the actual issue is, would help!

Never mind. I searched the forums, I realized I was inputting the wrong name for my searches for the dock (UD22 not U22).

It seems only the display ports, not the USB C and HDMI ports have Display Link technology which kinda defeats the purpose of the dock since those aren't the cables I want to use.

May just return this specific dock, even though the price was quite good.

Thanks.
