Default [SOLVED] Dell D3000 on Slackware current, drivers *seem* ok but no monitors

Hi All,

I am performing a new Slackware 64 current (4.1.6 kernel) build on a Dell M3800, with a D3000 "docking" station (lol).

Tbh everything hardware-wise with the laptop is pretty much working out of the box. I have xrandr giving me sensible messages and the laptop built-in HDMI port working with external monitor.

root@darkstar:~# xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767
eDP1 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 193mm
1920x1080 60.05*+ 48.04
1400x1050 59.98
1600x900 60.00
1280x1024 60.02
1280x960 60.00
1368x768 60.00
1280x720 60.00
1024x768 60.00
1024x576 60.00
960x540 60.00
800x600 60.32 56.25
864x486 60.00
640x480 59.94
720x405 60.00
640x360 60.00
DP1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

On plugging in the DisplayLink, usb and network all works. Now I want the screens to work. Sooo, I have unpacked the latest DisplayLink drivers and done the following:

-> Compiled the evdi.ko module and successfully loaded it into the kernel
-> Loaded the udl module that came with the distro
-> Run the DisplayLinkManager binary.

I get a load of sensible looking output in the logs, no obvious crashes, an fb1 device, and so on. In fact, when I plug in a monitor to a HDMI port, I get this in the syslog:

Sep 11 14:29:31 darkstar kernel: [ 3088.232500] [D] evdi_detect (dev=2) Painter is connected
Sep 11 14:29:31 darkstar kernel: [ 3088.233245] [D] evdi_detect (dev=2) Painter is connected
Sep 11 14:29:31 darkstar kernel: [ 3088.233253] [D] evdi_painter_get_edid (dev=2) 00 ff ff

However, xrandr does not report any new displays.

Kernel messages look something like:
Sep 11 13:47:14 darkstar kernel: [ 552.616284] evdi evdi.0: No connectors reported connected with modes
Sep 11 13:47:14 darkstar kernel: [ 552.618053] evdi evdi.0: fb1: evdidrmfb frame buffer device
Sep 11 13:47:14 darkstar kernel: [ 552.618060] [drm] evdi: evdi_stats_init
Sep 11 13:47:14 darkstar kernel: [ 552.618076] [drm] Initialized evdi 1.0.68 19700101 on minor 2

I can post whatever other output is useful.

I may well be missing relevant kernel modules, or there may be module conflicts. What should I see in lsmod? Simple documentation does not seem abundant!

Any help much appreciated!
Ben

Ok, so following this thread:

http://displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?p=78396

advised that I should:

xrandr --setprovideroutputsource 1 0

And voila, so simple. I will report back on performance etc....
