Default No prompt on Macbook Pro M2

Hey,

I have a Starlink dual DisplayPort DisplayLink adapter connected via my Caldigit TS4 dock. My set-up has 2 monitors connected via TB4 and 1 monitor via the starlink displaylink adapter for a total of 3 external monitors - in my case just 1 monitor delivered via DisplayLink.

I also have a Macbook Max M1 and this set-up works perfectly on that (it also works on windows laptops too). I even thought I'd tested it with my new work Macbook Pro M2, but as I've come to use it today for the first time properly, its not working.

Whenever I open the display link manager it cannot find the device, and states "After connecting the accessory to this Mac via USB a systm prompt will appear. Please click allow to ensure this device is working properly".

When I connect the device I'm never prompted to allow the device access and can't get it working. The device does show up in the device tree though (screen shot attached) and as I've mentioned before it does work on another Mac.

Any help or pointers?

Matt

If possible, please gather logfiles that will show me a bit more of what is happening in the background. The instructions are available here: https://support.displaylink.com/know...to-displaylink

You can then attach them to your response or send them to our support directly via email to technical-enquiries@synaptics.com

Thank you, it looks like there is a problem accessing the USB device. Are you able to test the adapter with direct connection to the computer to see if it works connected this way?

Also can you please power cycle the adapter and docking station?

So disconnect the adapter and the docking station from the computer and power for 30 seconds up to a minute. Restart the computer as well and then connect all devices and check if they are working.

I can only test the adapter with another adapter as the Macbook doesn;t have a normal USB port. I have got another adapter and tried that but still has the same result (i.e. doesn't work).

Just tried powercycling and restarting but again that doesn't work.

This has prompted me and I've realised BitDefender Endpoint Security is blocking the device. Not sure how to rectify that but it does appear to be BitDefender blocking it

Thanks for the help

Matt

Did you receive any notification from BitDefencer about blocked devices?
Are you able to use other USB devices or is it just this one?
