Default DisplayLink Quits while in use

Using a Dell laptop running Windows 98. Have been using DisplayLink to use larger monitor when working at home with greeat results. Recently started having issue - while running DisplayLink, suddenly the external monitor goes into sleep mode, the DisplayLink icon disappears from the system tray, and my laptop screen takes over. I rebooted a couple of times, DisplayLink did not start up and icon was still missing. On third reboot, DisplayLink started up, icon was there and everything worked as designed. Lasted for 30 mnutes, then shut down again and icon disappears. Thoughts?

Are you sure you are running Windows 98? I think we stopped testing that a while ago. I'm sorry that you are having problems, but Microsoft has fixed quite a number of issues with the USB stack since then. It could be that your USB hardware has unfortunately developed a fault, can you indicate what model it is?
