surface pro win 8.1 imation link no sound

I have the above configuration and when I use the link video works fine but no sound. loaded the latest drivers. playing using wusb audio video device shows the bars moving up and down as sound should be playing in the volume mixer but no sound comes out? plays ok if I use computer speakers but not through the sound system I have the imatiion link connected to...
