Ubuntu 22.04 kernel 6.8.8 fails to start GUI
yet another issue with DisplayLink after a ubuntu update...
Today my system fails to start Ubuntu Desktop on boot => stuck in blinking cursor! The evdi driver looks to be the culprit. I then tried reinstalling manually using the latest evdi 1.14.4 but same behavior. I'm using LM 23.1 (Ubuntu 22.04). I've been on kernel 6.5.0-45 with Displaylink driver 5.8 for a long time with a Wavlink docking station https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09FT8BXZR
Here is what I did before upgrading kernel to 6.8.0-40: 1. Uninstall the 5.8 driver: Code:
sudo ./displaylink-driver-6.0.0-24.run uninstall 3. Install the 6.0 driver: Code:
sudo ./displaylink-driver-6.0.0-24.run 5. Upgrade kernel to 6.8.0-40 6. Profit! |
