Question Ubuntu 18.04 / DisplayLink product detected but no screen display yet

Hi everyone.

I've bought a USB 3.0 to Dual HDMI Adapter (USB32HD2 built by Startech) and I've read on the Web that some users seem to have it working by installing the DisplayLink's Ubuntu driver.

I've also installed this driver to my Ubuntu 18.04 system that is detecting the device correctly. But in spite of having plugged the HDMI cables to 2 monitors, there's nothing displayed or detected by these monitors. And Ubuntu doesn't detect additional screens.

Here's the informations I've collected to diagnose this issue:
Code:
$ sudo sh ./displaylink-driver-5.1.26.run
<worked properly without error message>

$ lsusb -d 0711:
Bus 004 Device 045: ID 0711:5601 Magic Control Technology Corp.

$ loginctl show-session 2 -p Type
Type=x11

$ xrandr --setprovideroutputsource 1 0
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)

Minor opcode of failed request: 35 (RRSetProviderOutputSource)
Value in failed request: 0x3f Serial number of failed request: 16
Current serial number in output stream: 17

$ xrandr --listmonitors
Monitors: 1 0: +*eDP-1 1920/344x1080/194+0+0 eDP-1

$ xrandr --listproviders
Providers: number : 2
Provider 0: id: 0x65 cap: 0x9, Source Output, Sink Offload crtcs: 3 outputs: 3 associated providers: 1 name:modesetting
Provider 1: id: 0x3f cap: 0x4, Source Offload crtcs: 0 outputs: 0 associated providers: 1 name:nouveau
As explained above, I've read that some peoples can have it working by installing the DisplayLink driver. But the Startech page specifications explains that the Chipset ID is "Trigger T6-688SL / Silicon Image - Sil9136-3". So there's still a big doubt in my mind about the relevance of searching for a solution in DisplayLink side. And the Startech company doesn't officially provide support for Linux on this product.

So my first question before anything else is:
Could someone here confirm that there's a DisplayLink component inside this USB32HD2 Startech device?

Any information would be of great help

That product doesn't use a DisplayLink chipset in it.

No? I thought so because I've found some peoples on the web who claim having solved their driver issue with a DisplayLink driver. Your answer confirms that it's a bad information and that it's definitely not possible to make such device work with Linux (I did a lot of unsuccessful researches).

Next time I want to buy one compatible with Linux I will know to which door I should knock.
Thanks a lot for having taken the time to answer my question Captain Canada!
