Default how do you tell what chip a device has?

hi guys, I'm thinking about getting an AOC E1659FWU 15.6" Portable USB3.0 Monitor but I'm wondering how do you tell which chip it has? this is for all devices. I Havant found a database and no one ever seems to list the chip.

I hear the 3 and 4 chips don't have linux support but some of the other ones do? although im not dependant on linux id still like to have compatibility anyway just to make things flow better when i switch back and forth.

Hi,

You can find the chip number on the DisplayLink shop pages:

This is the one of USB monitors

Thanks,
