Default Driver install not working on Yoga 2 Pro with Windows 8.1 Professional

Hi,
I have a problem and cannot even install the DisplayLink drivers on my Yoga 2 Pro with Windows 8.1 Professional. When running the the installation file I just get a quick flash of a window, but no prompts what so ever and the drivers are not installed.

Drivers are for my Plugable USB 3.0 and I can install on other machines with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 (not professional). I have been in contact with Plugable support, but they cannot say what the problem might be after analysing the log files.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi,

Please run through this guide:
http://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=896

As soon as the issue is seen please attach the output of this tool:
http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269
Once downloaded, please run it and select "Gather Support Information"

It's also worth trying the "System Compatibility Check" to see if anything is flagged up.

Thanks,
James

Hello,
I have gone through the steps. There are displaylink drivers installed, but does not look as in the instructions. Also, the actual software is not installed at all.

I have also attached the output from the support tool.

The main problem for me, as it seems, is that the software does not install. I am not prompted at all after I have authorized the program to "make changes on my computer". Just a very fast flash and then it stops.

Any clues would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ola

Hi,

For each device with a yellow bang against it in Device Manager:

Right click on device in device manager
Select Driver
Select Update Driver
Select Browse my computer for driver software
Select Browse
Enter C:\Program Files\DisplayLink Core Software\
Check Include subfolders
Select Next

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks,
James

Thanks James!
I have done as suggested.

No drivers are found for:
- Plugable Audio
- Plugable Ethernet

BUT for DisplayLink Display Adapter (4323) it says:
"Windows has determined that the driver software for your device is up to date"

Still no actual software is installed, and the display driver (though "up to date") does not find my screen...

Please advice if I can do anything more...

Are there no more updates on this? The real big question for me is really, what can block the .exe file of the windows drivers to execute?

Thanks,
Ola

I would like to know about this also. I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon with the Lenovo USB 3 replicator and windows 8.1 enterprise, that is doing the same thing. I have run the cleaner tool in normal, safe, and other profile, and it says to press enter to start, then the tool vanishes. When I run the installer, it does the same as the people above, where it starts for a second the vanishes, never installing anything. Nothing shows up in programs and features, or device manager. This is for a large corporate environment (over 10,000 users), so would really appreciate some help fairly quickly.

Rconiv,
I got it resolved by another user with the same problem. Find the resolution in http://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?p=73492

Basically a link to an .msi file with the same software as in the .exe download. This works for me! Please restart after instalilng... the installer is very "uncommunicative".
