Unhappy Mojave 10.14.1 Unable to drive two external monitors

I've got a 2018 macbook pro running Mojave 10.14.1 with DisplayLink Driver 4.3 beta (142) and it will not un-mirror the 2nd monitor. I'm trying to run a triple monitor configuration using the laptop and two independent (un-mirrored) displays. The 2nd external display only operates in mirror-mode. The first external monitor works great (unmirrored).

Is there a way to run a triple monitor setup?

I'm using the Siig USB 3.1 Dual 4k docking station. External monitors are both connected via HDMI to the Siig.

Default RE: Mojave 10.14.1 Unable to drive two external monitors

Hi, I'm in the same situation here.
Upgraded yesterday to 10.14.1. I have a Macbook pro 2018 and 2 external monitors DELL P2417H connected via a BELKIN THUNDERBOLT 3 EXPRESS DOCK HD. One monitor is connected via HDMI and the one one via Display Port. The only one working now is the Monitor connected to Display Port. Note that before upgrade it was working from 10.13.6 High Sierra. I tried to installed the latest Display Link stable driver from your site but no luck.

EDIT: I just wanted to mention that the monitor (HDMI on the HUB) not working is not detected by MOJAVE and is going to sleep mode. While the other one is working as expected using display port. And I stress that It was working on 10.13.6.

Anything I'm missing ?

Thanks & all the best,
Frederic

I would stop using the 4.3 driver, update to the 10.14.2 beta 3 and run the 5.0.1 driver.

Any idea if we can still keep 10.14.1 and use 5.0.1 driver ? Or is it advisable to switch to 10.14.2 beta 3 ?

MBP 2018 & MBA 2018 on 10.14.1 with 5.0.1 the display will be black.

With 10.14.2 beta it will work

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I did all the steps you mentioned but unfortunatly with no luck. It seems that MacOS 10.14.1(MOJAVE) has issue with multi-display setup. In my case my BELKIN EXPRESS DOCK HD is connected via USB-C to the mackbook pro, one monitor is connected via DISPLAY PORT and the other that is not recognized has HDMI connected to the dock using USB-C adaptor. Again it was working correctly with MACOS 10.13.6 HIGH SIERRA. I sometimes had to disconnect and reconnect but it was working. I guess I will wait 10.14.2 then. The workaround for now is to disconnect the 2nd monitor and connect it directly to the MAC waiting the OS upgrade and thus Display Link upgrade. Thanks ! All teh best / Frederic

Are you sure you have a DisplayLink based product? The Belkin dock you have uses Thunderbolt, not DisplayLink. And the USB C to HDMI adapter you are using is possibly using VESA alternate mode from USB C, which will not work through USB hubs.

Just want to make sure you are actually using a DisplayLink enabled product and your issue is not due to something else.

To answer your (very good) comment, the BELKIN has 3 ports. One is DisplayPort and the 2 others are USB-C. In the dock documentation/advertisement this dock expose the capability to have 1 monitor connected via display port and an other one via USB-C. Then the dock it self is connected to the MACBOOK (My model is late 2018). This setup was working in 10.13.6 but kroke after 10.14.1 upgrade. However this setup is tricky as the MACBOOK provide 2 external display (one using DP and the other one USB-C) + the laptop monitor. So in total 3 screens.

FYI, in 10.14.2 it is working (again) now. But this is not perfect as I have to re-discover the screen randomly. But hey ! It works as it (almost) was in 10.13.6. Cheers/Frederic
