ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C - Macbook Air 2020

Hi

I just got a dock home from my workplace today, brand new, for my Thinkpad notebook T495.

everything works fine when I use my Thinkpad T495 with windows 10.

My Monitor is Asus ROG PG279Q 2560x1440- 144 hz

but when I try to connect the USB-C to my MacBook Air and close the lid of the MacBook, the display flashes black for 1-2 seconds about every 20-30 seconds.

if I keep my lid open, there is no issue.
i have been in "about Mac" and "system repport" and then "Extensions" I can't find a text called "Display link" at all, as I read you should be able too.

i am running osx version Big Sur 11.1

i have the displaylink software running in the upper right corner in OS X telling that "monitor detected" and login screen extension status: installed.
