2560 x 2160
I have a new LG monitor that’s 5k2k. It allows 2560 x 2160 in picture by picture mode. I looked into buying a DisplayLink video device but do not see this as a supporter resolution anywhere. Do you plan on supporting this resolution on any of your devices?

Hello,
The resolution is unusual and only usual resolutions are listed. The DisplayLink chips are not restricted to specific resolution but by bandwidth: how fast should the pixels go on the tube. Can you give me the monitor model name so I can look at what type of inputs it takes? 2560 x 2160 sounds to be within UHD/4K (3840x2160): the double = 5K (5120 x 2160) is only 33% width increase compared to UHD/4K for same height. Kind regards, Alban

Hi it’s an LG 34WK95U-W
In the manual you’ll see the picture by picture resolutions. There is also 1280x2160. Quote:

Thank you,
If you use an HDMI input with our technology, you'd need the product to be based on the DisplayLink DL-69xx chip(set). Because the DL-5000 or lower cannot achieve the bandwidth necessary on HDMI: https://support.displaylink.com/know...lution-support Kind regards, Alban

Hello,
I am planning to buy a new montitor (LG 34WK95U-W 34" WUHD) with a resolution of 5120 x 2160 pixels. You mentioned in you answer, that this resolution is "only 33% width increase" and therefore maybe a DisplayLink solution could be used to drive this montior. Questions: 1. Does the DisplayLink DL-69xx chipset support this resolution (5120 x 2160) through a single DP (DisplayPort) connection ? (i.e. lower resolution than full 5K aka 5120 × 2880 which according to specs would require 2 DP connections) 2. If yes, is this resolution supported @ 60Hz as well ? 3. If the resolution (5120 x 2160) is not supported through a single DP connection, would it be possible by using one DP and one HDMI connection simultaneously ? Thank you very much for your support ! Best regards |

1. Unfortunately, no. The 5K-width support is limited to tiled-displays with dual-DP link. 3. Yes, I see the display has PBP (page 13-14) for that purpose: side by side without a bezel. Each output would be at 2560x2160 and this is advertised supported by both HDMI and DP inputs on page 25 and 26. Kind regards, Alban

Hello Alban,
Thank you very much for your quick and concise answer - this helps a lot to decide about the next steps i.e. choosing the right monitor and required connections for the application. Best regards |
