BSOD on Windows 7 x86 using 8.2 M3 software - HELP!
Hi guys,
I have Kensington USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Dock which is giving me grief. Basically, in order to install the drivers, I have to go through a BSOD and at least two reboots. The software I have tried so far: DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows 8.2 M2.exe and DisplayLink_Win7-10TH2.msi (8.2 M2) and the msi file for 8.2 M3. All are installing ok but towards the end I get a BSOD. What's the solution to this issue? Many thanks, Adrian |

Hi Adrian,
If you collect the logs as described in the last link of my forum signature, it will also collect the crash dumps (*.dmp). From them, I can see what function call made it all fall-over. You can upload the ZIP here, only DisplayLink employees can download them. Kind regards, Alban

Hello Adrian,
You have a stack overflow. It sounds like Dell Data Protection Encryption software hooks are adding to the stack which then makes it too big and it trips. The last dump analysis says "Probably caused by : CmgShREG.sys ( CmgShREG+42c9 )" That file is from "CMG Shield for Windows Driver". In itself, that software doesn't seem to use that much but it's the last one so it's responsible. You seem to have Trend Micro software consuming quite more as it adds itself in between in several places (tmactmon, tmevtmgr and tmcomm). I am afraid I don't see an easy solution for you, except removing calls. Kind regards, Alban Stack Usage By Module ================================================== =============================== Size Count Module 0x00000A34 25 nt 0x0000030C 4 tmactmon 0x000000DC 4 fltmgr 0x000000D8 4 tmevtmgr 0x00000094 2 CmgShREG 0x00000068 1 tmcomm Total Size: 0x00000FF0
