Exclamation Screen flickers on Hp Laptops with Hp USB-C docking station

We have approx. 400 Hp laptops and docking station of various models.
We are experiencing a wide spread issue with all docking station using diplaylink chipset.
When a user move MS Teams or outlook from 1 monitor to another monitor, screen flickers and usb-c dock disconnects and re connects. We can hear usb disconnection and reconnection sound. At the same time wireless disconnects too (and of course VPN as well) which creating a nuisance.

We have updated bios, drivers, windows etc. to all latest and greatest but no joy.

When this happens we get 3 event logs stating

1. Display driver igfxn stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
2. A problem has occurred with one or more user-mode drivers and the hosting process has been terminated. This may temporarily interrupt your ability to access the devices.
3. The device HP USB-C Universal Dock (location 0000.000d.0000.002.003.000.000.000.000) is offline due to a user-mode driver crash. Windows will attempt to restart the device 5 more times. Please contact the device manufacturer for more information about this problem.

Is this a known issue for Display link with Hp Laptops? We have hand full of Dell laptops with the same SOE and we are not experiencing any issues.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out!

Did you notice the issue with just MS Teams and Outlook?
No other applications are having issues like this?
Can you please tell us if you see the disconnections happen with all of the peripherals connected to the docking station or just the flickering screens, network?

Can you please follow the steps here to gather logfiles?
How Can I Report Windows Issues to DisplayLink?

For speedy support you can send them to technical-enquiries@synaptics.com you can also attach the logfiles here.

Thank you,
Katarzyna

Thumbs down Same issue here

Hello,

i have exact the same issue on my HP Pavilion Laptop.

Some Applications cause this problem, Teams, Outlook... to me it looks like, that it is more often if I use applications with overlay graphics or overlay images or some kind of transparency.

But we also saw the problem when no one does anything. We stand beside the station and watched it crash without any user input.

Cannot find any messages in the error logs of windows.

How can this be fixed?

Angry

It seems to have no special rule but looks like it is related to overlay graphics as stated before. Today we are struggling this problem 100times or more. Work is not even possible with docker.

What can we do about that?

Best regards

Default Disable Thunderbolt under bios

After months of trial and error, we may have got some success. We disabled thunderbolt mode under bios on hand full of computers and these computers are stable for the past few days.
