Triple Monitors
I currently have a toshiba display link USB docking station with a dvi-out
I use it at work with a single 20" DVI monitor, then I have an another 19" monitor that is plugged into my laptop's VGA port. I have all of them on at once in a kind of haphazard triple screen setup. I got a bonus last month and I think it's time to upgrade to a real triple screen display instead of this awkward pile. However, I'm not sure what I can support. I have a toshiba Portege R830 and I'm about to order the dock for it (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004RPKVOO) I'd really like to be able to stick the laptop on the dock, under my desk, and use 3 19"-20" monitors on a nice triple monitor stand. so..... I keep hearing how you can daisy chain these monitors together, but I can't understand how that works. Do I need to get a USB-DVI adapter for each monitor? I don't need really nice graphics, I'm a database developer, so 90% of my work is just text and web-pages that are 99% forms. (I had to swear off gaming after a bit of overload in college!) Anyway, if you guys have any advice, I'd appreciate it. Thanks -Dan |

It sounds interesting, you may put some screenshots of your current position. I don't think that daisy chain can resolve this issue...

I got 3 22inch monitors, a docking station and 2 displaylink adapters. Works great, but I did burn out one of the adapters last week....bought another about ten minutes later.
I'm pretty sure I can return the burned out one, brutish haventhad a chance to pursue it. |
