Default 1.2.65 on Ubuntu 16.10+Neon 5.8.2

Running Ubuntu 16.10 with KDE Neon 5.8.2 installed. Kernel 4.8.4
Installed driver 1.2.65 and at first extra screen and adapter was recognised in Display manager settings.
Rebooted and graphics now crashes as soon as adaptor is plugged in. Can not get gui back up, so have power cycle.

Plugging in the device completely crashes my computer causing me to do a full reboot.

How do you suggest I use the tool when this occurs?

Michal, just reading some other posts on the forum.
The machine I am using is Intel Skylake platform. suspect the problem is same as in this post: http://displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=64868 as I run Intel+Nvidia graphics.
Hope that helps?
