Default DisplayLink-connected monitors stopped working when upgrading to Ubuntu 24.04

Hi,

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 laptop that I connect to a "DisplayLink ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A Dock", through which I have two external monitors connected along with mouse and keyboard.

My setup was working until yesterday, when I performed a distro upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04 (from 22.04). Now my two external monitors that are connected through the dock, are not detected. Mouse and keyboard attached through same dock work fine. The monitors work when I plug them directly to the laptop with HDMI.

I have the latest DisplayLink driver (version 6.1.0-17) installed through apt.

I was wondering if it could be a linux kernel issue, since it says on the DisplayLink website that "The supported linux kernel version range is from 4.15 to 5.5, the minimum supported Xorg version is 1.16 and the minimum supported Mutter(Wayland) is 3.32. If your Ubuntu versions of these components are lower, than these, you will probably experience blank or corrupted DisplayLink screens" -- whereas my kernel is 6.8.0-45.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong? Things I could try? All input is much appreciated!

Thanks!
