Angry can docking station work on Windows 7 ??

Ok, so I have the Kensington Universal Docking station. Used the "onboard" installation, which more or less makes it work: mouse, keyboard and ethernet all working. But... when I close the laptop lid for a while, screen goes black and won't turn on again. Only a reboot helps.

Tried the update that is offered but it will not install. Again, it makes the screen go blackm permanently and this time only a system-restore will help.

Also tried de-installing all older software and installing the latest stuff from the website (as suggested elsewher on this forum). This time the mouse and keyboard work, the lid can be closed and opened and the screen will NOT go black, however, ethernet will NOT work with this version. Also, the onboard software wanst still to be installed, however if you permit it to do so... nothing happens !

Any suggestions on getting the docking station to do what its supposed to ?
PC = Dell XPS with Windows 7 64bit and no other displays connected.

Please follow this thread to install the latest software for this Kensington dock:

Also - make sure you have the latest graphics drivers installed for your primary graphics card.

Since i had very little succes with the newest version, I tried installing the 2011 version from the Kensington site and THAT seeems to work ! Needed a special uninstaller to get rid of the older stuff, by the way. I'm not gonna update anymore, lets hope it keeps working now...
Thank you.

Well, unsurprisingly... it DOESN'T work !!!!
The software installs, no black screens, but also no internet. Internet works just fine with the cable plugged inot the laptop, not via the docking.
Also, the "onboard" software keeps presenting itself, however when clicking it it doesnt install.

I followed these instructions:

Thank you for contacting Kensington Technical Support.
I have looked after your request, and I would like to ask you to follow these troubleshooting steps to solve your issue:
1) Disconnect the dock
2) Uninstall the dock Software,
3) Download and run the displaylink uninstall uitility.
http://displaylink.com/techsupport_f...ll_cleaner.zip
4) Clean registry files and reboot the PC
5) Install the latest software form our website:
http://accoblobstorageus.blob.core.w...1a89fcfce7.zip
6) Connect the dock and Windows will find new hardware
7) Wait until all drivers are installed

Any suggestions, apart from throwing this crappy product in the bin ??

I've updated the steps in this article:

http://kb.displaylink.com/322

Following this should get the software installed and working on your PC.
