Default Android phone crashes displaylink

When I plug my Samsung Galaxy Sii into a usb port to charge, the displaylink app disappears from the system tray and the extended desktop freezes. The windows that WERE displayed on it come back to the main monitor, but reduced.
To resolve the problem, I have to unplug the phone and reboot the computer.
-Windows 7 Pro 32 bit service pack 1 fully updated
-Lenovo computer dual E2200 procs
-Intel G33 Express Chipset Family video driver; LogMeIn Mirror Driver
-100-U2-UV16-V1 displaylink adapter to VGA adapter dongle to Acer monitor.

It sounds like the adapter is dropping off the USB bus, probably because your phone is taking power, and the USB adapter can no longer get enough power. I'd make sure you are connecting it to a powered USB port, or directly to the computer.
