Default Windows 10 complete disconnect while plugged in

I'm having this problem multiple times a day. Everything is working great then the Targus I have acts as though I complete disconnected my device from the USB 3.0 port though everything is connected as normal. I unplug, wait a few seconds, then plug the USB 3.0 cable back in and everything is back to normal.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the DisplayLink drivers to no avail.

I tried the last item regarding disabling USB suspend. I also have verified all the steps through the BIOS version. The items in between I'll try at another time but for now we'll see if the USB suspend change helps at all.

The USB suspend did not help. I am now trying a USB 2.0 port. I do not have a Y cable or hub.

So far so good. Is there any negative to using 2.0 vs 3.0? I had always thought it had to be 3.0. Obviously speed is the main difference but so far it seems to run the same as it did with USB 3.0.
