Sweet.

The next official release for our Windows driver will be 8.0 M3, with bug fixes.

I talked about mouse cursor improvements planned as first performance improvements available in a future release and I'm happy to report this is complete.
That will be part of our Windows driver release 8.1, planned for the end of the year.
As the performance change is quite impressive on 4K monitors, we are looking at providing a development build for 8.1, once we have had some testing done.
I will post more when I have a package so people who wish to test, and understand that a development build is NOT of release quality, can get it.

Default Lag issue

Hi AlbanRampon,

I am also experiencing serious lag since upgrading to the Anniversary Update. Everything was smooth before that. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite P50-A, connected to a Toshiba Dynadock U3.0. I did a clean install of the AU instead of upgrading my previous installation. I just updated now to the latest DisplayLink release 8.1.843.0, with no improvement to the lag issue.

The mouse cursor lags when using the wired mouse connected to the dock, but not if I move a wireless mouse connected directly to the computer. I only play a single game, Civilization 5, which was running smoothly previously. Since the upgrade to AU, the game lags to the point where it becomes unplayable. It's not only the mouse cursor that stutters, but the whole game becomes VERY unresponsive. Runs smoothly when the dock is disconnected and playing directly on the laptop screen.

I noticed that the lags gets significantly worse whenever I open a picture with the Windows Photos app. Not only the mouse lags, but every graphical animation or movement, like moving a window or opening a menu, is buggy.

Please find the attached log file to help you diagnose the problem.

Thanks,
JF

Two of my posts in reply to this thread have been deleted.
I'm fairly disappointed.

I'm having severe issues with DL 8.1 and latency much like jfcabana.
I'd love some form of resolution or advice, but my post has disappeared twice.

I don't delete content unless it is insulting or inappropriate. No point in removing a post when someone can repost here or elsewhere!
Either you posted the same thing several times and duplicates were removed or you listed something from another thread and it has been merged there.

I didn't do any of that, in fact one of them was an edit to an existing post that simply disappeared after I edited it...

If you added links or attachments they maybe in moderation. But once again, I've got much more productive stuff to do than deleting your posts, really!

Now, if you are feeding back on 8.1, I could suggest not piling on an 8.0 thread. There won't be more maintenance releases for 8.0.

Works perfectly again
Simon,
You are ignoring the message at your own risk.
If your graphics driver ever gets updated to WDDM 2.1, you will not be able to boot your machine again.

Hello JF,
Our chip and driver have ZERO visibility of the mouse USB traffic.
If the mouse pointer works correctly on the laptop then it is more likely to be the USB hub within the dock... We don't do hubs.

I'd advise checking the power settings for USB. Some hubs don't enjoy aggressive power saving and may cause delay if they can't cope with the assault by link power mode shutdown requests. And the power saving of the link is not really significant when you've got a video running there!

Edit as I got another idea. Are the mice comparable in features? I'm wondering if one creates more traffic than the other. Have you tried the working mouse on the dock?

Kind regards,
Alban
