Can't get all resolutions??

Hi guys. Am using v5.6 with the DL-195 USB video adapter with a monitor that is 1920 x 1080 native. Would like to lower the resolution down to 1440 x 900 but I can't seem to find any option for that. I have noticed that if I use the HDMI adapter and the HDMI cable, I will be presented with 1280 x 720, which is too small and things are cut off at the bottom. The monitor supports a LOT of different resolutions, including 1440 x 900, but I can't get this option visible. Any ideas????
