Default Ubuntu 17.04 - Gnome 3 - Driver 1.3.54 not working

Hello
I have been successfully using 2xDisplaylink USB with 2 monitor attached to them since months. Now, after upgrading to 1.3.54, everything stopped working. I tried with or without custom X configuration, but nothing changes, the monitor are not even detected .

here's the kernel output when I try to attach one of the displays

Everytime I update this driver I get up to 1 week of problems, it's frustrating

Exclamation (Almost) Solved

Installing the kernel 4.12 as explained here fixed the problem. Of course upgrading the kernel with one not officially released could make the system unstable. I consider it a workaround
