Default Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered

I have installed the DisplayLink software on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) machine to use with my iPad. As a power saving measure, Windows is set to turn off the display after 15 minutes.

When I use the computer after the display has been powered down, the screen goes through a series of resets and I get the following notification:

"Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered. Display Driver NVidia Windows Kernel Mode Driver Version 191.07 Stopped Responding and has successfully recovered."

In the system event log, I'm seeing entries like this:

Log Name: System
Source: Display
Date: 1/9/2011 2:52:53 PM
Event ID: 4101
Task Category: None
Level: Warning
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: ravena
Description:
Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
Event Xml:
<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
<System>
<Provider Name="Display" />
<EventID Qualifiers="0">4101</EventID>
<Level>3</Level>

<Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords>
<TimeCreated SystemTime="2011-01-09T19:52:53.000000000Z" />

<Computer>ravena</Computer>
<Security />
</System>

</Event>

After that, the display appears to be normal. This is happening without the iPad running the DisplayLink software. This did not happen before installing DisplayLink.
