Default OSX 10.9 problems, Diamond adapter, SW update problem

I submitted this problem report to Diamond:

I'm running OSX 10.9

I had a DisplayLink adapter with no visible model number before. It had a number of shortcomings. The BVU195 is much better, but OSX has started randomly logging me out. This seems to be coupled with use of the monitor attached via the BVU195.

OSX "System Information" says I was running version 1.15 of the DisplayLink driver. I tried downloading and installing version 2.2 from your site, but System Information still shows version 1.15. Yes, I rebooted.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yours,
-Rick

They responded thusly:

This is a driver issue, and we only support the hardware. Please contact displaylink.

I would like to know two things:

1. How can I effectively upgrade to the 2.2 driver. If this involves uninstalling the 1.15 driver, how can I do that?

2. Can you suggest a manufacturer of a USB display adapter using your product who takes customer support seriously?

Thanks.

Hi Athremus,

1) You probably have already upgraded to 2.2.
If you are looking at System Profiler in Hardware->USB and selecting the device, the "Version" field is not the SW version but the version of the hardware.
To know the SW version installed you need to look at Software->Extensions->DisplayLinkDriver

2) I cannot recommend any manufacturer I'm sorry. Some Amazon reviews specifically mention good customer support for DisplayLink devices, you might want to look for those.

About the issue, if you have a Retina Mac with Mavericks you may be experiencing one of the known OS issues: http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=354

Regards,
Carlo
