Default 2560 X 1440 HP3005PR Choppy

I have a Dell XPS-12 with the Intel I5 and Intel 4000 graphics, Windows 8.
I was using the 7.1M software, and it had acceptable graphics performance on my Samsung 2560 X 1440 display through the DP on the HP dock.
However, 7.1M has the Metro Video DRM issue.
I updated the drivers to 7.2, the DRM video is fixed. However, the video performance through the dock is so choppy that it is practically unusable.
I'm working around it by not using the DP on the Dock and using the MiniDP on the laptop, but it sort of defeats the purpose.

Also, we were going to deploy these systems for use on other laptops that don't necessarily have a built in Mini display port so would need to use the Dock DP for the display.
