Performance on Linux
Hi!
I've grabbed ThinkPad Type-C Hybrid Dock (40AF) recently and now trying to set it up for my t470. I'm using Arch Linux. kernel - 5.9.12 displaylink util - 5.3.1.34-4 from AUR evdi - 1.7.1-2 from AUR I've already created 20-evdidevice.conf in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d with the following contents: Code:
Section "OutputClass" Identifier "DisplayLink" MatchDriver "evdi" Driver "modesetting" Option "AccelMethod" "none" EndSection The main problem however is that performance in far from being OK. Initially i was getting like 1 FPS like the others reported many times and with the latest drivers it's much better now, but again it's still not usable IMHO. Everything is quite slow and micro stutters occur even when typing in console. The cpu usage is quite high too (specifically in browser). So should I really expect this kind if performance on Linux? or smth could be wrong with my config? I've seen people suggesting to change/disable compositor, running lower resolution, changing background to something 'simpler' and so on. All this is not an option for me. I find it strange to say the least. The funny thing is that i have almost zero complaints when running the exact the same dock on my corporate laptop with win 10. Would be glad to hear any suggestions. Thanks! |

I have exact same issues with my HP ProBook 440 G4 and HP USB C/A Universal Dock G2
CPU near 100% wen I'm using two 1080p monitors connected to dock... Code:
Operating System: Linux Mint 20 Kernel: Linux 5.4.0-59-generic Architecture: x86-64 Last edited by kiroshi; 01-08-2021 at 11:39 AM. |
