Angry Gaming Performance Issues on Windows 10 & Surface Pro 7

Hello,

When I play a game on my built-in display on my Surface it plays great but when connected to an external monitor using a USB-C cable through my D6000 dock, the performance is noticeably worse. The graphics seem choppy. I thought that the dock just passed the video through and should not affect game performance. Is there anything that I can do? I've updated all my drivers. Here are my specs:

Microsoft Surface Pro 7
  • CPU: Intel i5-1035G4
  • Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 940
  • Graphics Driver: 26.20.100.7641 (12/21/2019)
  • BIOS date: 12/20/2019
  • Memory: 8 GB

Monitor
  • HP 25f

Windows 10 Home
  • Version 1909 (10.0.18363)

Dell D6000 Dock
  • M4TJG Mfg date: Jan 2019
  • Driver: 9.3.3147.0 (1/29/2020)

Note that I'm not running a 4K monitor and it's not at a high resolution.
