Default Win7 + Nvidia + Toshiba Dynadock - Flickering display

Hi

Have an Acer Travelmate 8481G Ultrabook with Windows 7 Pro.
Has a built in Nvidia GT 520M.
Have a Toshiba Dynadock V (PA3778A-1PRP) (DisplayLink device)
Am intermitantley getting flickering on the screen.
Only lasts for a second or two.
Happens about 8 times per day.
Is happening on several systems all same as above.

Have just installed the DisplayLink 7.1 M1 driver
Same problem.

On one unit am running the latest Nvidia driver 310.90 suit GT 520M Notebook.
Others have the original Acer/Nvidia driver. (28/1/12 - 8.17.12.9555)

Did notice in device manager the DisplayLink driver details 4/9/12 - 7.0.41409.0
Is this correct for 7.1M1?

We know it is the fault of the Dynadock / DisplayLink as we have resetup one unit without a Dynadock and worked fine for several weeks.

When will this fault be corrected?

Need the logs just after it happens, and also if there are any events from dwm.exe in the event manager.

Logs as per request

Have discovered something

When running diagnostics on KFUltrabook mentions USB 3.0 driver may be issue (logs supplied)

Have updated firmware and driver on another unit (TBUltrabook)
Then made sure running latest 310.90 nvidia driver
Also then updated displaylink driver to 7.1M1
Now I have a different fault
Constant screen flashing (rename file to remove .zip off end of file)
(see logs and video)
If you disconnect the dynadock the display will stop flashing

Windows event logs show pretty much nothing

It looks like the OS is constantly changing the display settings for some reason. That is all I can see in the logs, as they only capture the last changes.

Could you:
  • Disable the DisplayLink service
  • Delete everything out of c:\program files\displaylink core software\debug\
  • Enable Advanced logging from the DisplayLink support tool
  • Start the displaylink service
  • Let it flash and capture the logs

Once you've captured the logs, stop the service and disable advanced logging, otherwise it will start to fill your disk up!

Thanks

Wim

Yes - We understand the problem, and it's due to the way Windows 8 gives us the screen pixels.

We have a possible fix for the quality issues on Windows 8, and it should be included in the next release.

This is Windows 7 not Windows 8

When do you expect to make available the next release?
(1 week, 1 month, ???)
