Default Dell Latitude E6500 win8.1 Enterprise. Displaylink driver not work

Hi James,

My laptop is old Dell latitude E6500. Recently I updated from win 8 ENT to win 8.1 ENT preview and also download win8.1 preview displaylink driver and installed. But I could not get my 3rd monitor work anymore. Here is the debug file by running DL tool. Can you have quick look?

Thanks

Hi,

This looks like an install permissions issue that another user had.

Can you try these suggestions?

1. Check that your user account has Administrator rights, if not, add them and try installing again
2. Right click on the DisplayLink Setup.exe and select "Run as administrator"
3. Turn off anti-virus software & firewall, install DisplayLink software and then re-enable anti-virus software & firewall
4. Navigate to the Temp directory (type in %temp% on the Metro screen) and check for any instances of DL2.tmp or DL3.tmp and delete them then try installing again.

Thanks,
James

Default Thanks James, I uninstalled driver and re-run setup as

administrator. But still not working. I verified device manager. Device show as other device AN2440D3 as win8. but shows as The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). I tried update drivers, but shows as cannot find driver. Any idea?

Thanks
Tom

Hi James,

Yes. I tried other options also.
1. my account in local administrator group
2. Run as administrator
3. Remove my anti-virus software and turn off windows firewall
4. Verify DL2.temp or DL3.temp under %temp%. There is not DL2.temp or DL3.temp file

I re-run the installation and restart computer, but the 3rd monitor still black. Am I missing anything?

Thanks
Tom

Hi,

If there is an exclamation mark against the device in device manager please point the Update Drivers mechanism to C:\Program Files\DisplayLink Core Software\ and enable check all subfolders.

Thanks,
James
