Default Mac not showing max resolution

Hi there, I have connected a couple of Dell U2715Hc to my MacBook via the Humanscale M-connect docking station arm which uses DisplayLink. I am unable to set the maximum resolution for these monitors when connected via the docking station. When I connect directly to the mac via the HDMI then I am able to see the maximum resolution. How can I overcome this? it's really not great with the fuzzy and not clear text and images. Thanks

Hello,

Could you tell me what is the resolution that you wish to work with exactly?

Thank you,

The monitors maximum resolution is 2560 * 1440 but all I get is 2048 *1152 and everything looks blurry.

I have tried all the basic troubleshooting that is out there including the one you have suggested. What did you find with the log submitted?

Hello,

The logfiles confirmed that the monitors have the appropriate resolution available and that the resolution is automatically downscaled. I found that the docking station will support resolution 2560x1600 with single head but not with dual.
You can check that by testing resolution with just one monitor connected to DisplayPort and one to HDMI if it will do the same thing.
  • Display Port: 2560x1600 single head, auto downscale to 1920x1080 with dual head. DP HDCP key not supported with external DP IC
  • HDMI: 2560x1440 single head, auto downscale to 1920x1080 with dual head

You can find this information in the following document:
https://apac.humanscale.com/userfile...016_INTENG.pdf

But based on that information your docking station does not support your configuration.

Best regards,
Katarzyna

I have two monitors connected to the dock, one via the DP and another one via the HDMI. Are you saying that this would downscale? This wasn't the case on my other PC, I was able to choose max resolution.

Hello,

Based on the information that I have found, yes. Using two ports at the same time would cause downscaling.

Just to make sure when you used another computer was it also macOS?
Could you connect the dock to that computer again, make sure that you can select the needed resolution and collect logfiles there for us?

Thank you,
Katarzyna
