Enabling the display crashes X
Hello All,
My objective is to eventually be able to run 3 monitors using displaylink adapters, but for now, I'm just trying to get one to work. I followed the steps to install on: http://support.displaylink.com/knowl.../615714#ubuntu I got to the last step, plugged in the adapter, and nothing. So, I went into the System Settings > Displays. The additional display was present, but off. Turned it on, hit Apply, and X crashed / restarted. I logged back in, went back to the Displays dialog, and the additional display is gone. It does not come back after a reboot. I have gotten it back by uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, but the same thing happens - enabling the output crashes X, and then it's gone. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm happy to provide any additional information / follow any diagnostic steps. Ubuntu 14.04.3 Kernel 3.16.0-46-generic Xorg 1.16.0 Thanks!! --aaron |
