Default Basic concepts on using with iMac

I have been given a D6000, and am using it on a lcd monitor successfully. But I would love to use my iMac as an external monitor for my Dell 7840

Apologies in advance for not understanding what I am sure are 101 questions

My iMac is a late 2013 model. It has thunderbolt 2 ports. Can it be used this way with a thunderbolt 3 / USB-C adapter? And can it ONLY be used as an external monitor with MacBooks and MacOS?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm afraid I've no experience of doing that at all and we don't have any iMacs so I am unable to test it for you. However, a quick search brought up this article, which you might find useful: https://www.fonepaw.com/recorder/use...or-for-pc.html

Kind regards,
Andrew
