Windows update of DL fails, Blue Screen
On 6 or 7 Sep I saw Displaylink as optional on Windows Update. I selected and installed. The installation failed. Windows in its usual way does not tell you why it failed. After the reboot, Blue Screen on login. Restart, login, it stayed. So I reinstalled the previous release (yes, without DL devices connected), connected the DL devices, and it stayed up. The next day, after restart, blue screen. And again, and again etc. No way out but reload PC.
Question now is: which release shall I load now? 7.0M0 or 6.3M1? 7.0M0 caused the first blue screen, but was that due to windows update failing? Please advise. |

7.0 M0 should not cause a blue screen, but as you've not posted the dmp file from the BSOD, I can't tell. I would try v7.0 M0 again from the DL website.

Thanks Wim
I loaded 7.0M0 on my freshly loaded PC, and it works fine. I will not use Windows Update anymore, as the Windows Update failed install of DL must have caused the problem. To my surprise Windows update today, 22 Sep, flagged Displaylink again as an optional update, although I have the latest version installed. I just do not trust Windows Update for DL anymore.
